On Thursday 21st September, we set off from the KCOM stadium at 10am, with 35 members.

We arrived at the Grimsby Fishing museum about 10.45, and were split into two groups.

One group went on to the Ross Tiger trawler moored alongside the museum, while the other group had a conducted tour of the museum. Then we changed over – each tour taking about an hour. There was also time for a cheeky coffee.

Both tour leaders were really knowledgeable about the whole of the fishing industry in Grimsby, and also of Hull’s too.

The man on the Ross Tiger had been to sea with her for many years, and at one time had been the skipper. The other tour guide was the grandson of a Grimsby fisherman, and he had a wealth of knowledge handed down from his grandfather.

We then went on to The Pier at Cleethorpes, which is now a Papa’s restaurant, and enjoyed a superb fish and chip lunch, in amazing surroundings.

There was time for a short walk along the sea front, before returning home.
