How can one review this last year of the Senior Tigers Club, a year when we have had no meetings, no live matches to watch and social contact has been at an absolute minimum. I never envisaged having to write an end of season review like this one. But we are still here and we have tried our best to keep you all informed on a regular basis on what has been happening during this pandemic.

Not only has your committee met on a regular basis during the last 18 months but various subgroups, like the Memorabilia and Heritage group and the website subgroup. Collectively that makes well over 30 meetings that have taken place all using the zoom link. In doing so we have tried to introduce different ways of keeping in contact with you all.

One particular area which has had a major benefit is that telephone call during the first week of each month during the pandemic. We all have one member of the committee to thank for that call, that person has gone the extra mile in keeping in touch with you all every month. Paul Bryan has been the friendly voice on the other end of over 5000 telephone calls he has made to our members. All the recognition he has received, whether it was from you, the Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding, or the EFL and Hull City Football Club, over this last year are well deserved. He has been an inspiration to us all. Thank you Paul for just being there.

We also introduced a newsletter which has proved very popular to which our thanks are extended to our Secretary Allen Bagshawe. He had the job of gathering all the information from various sources and then produced a very informative monthly newsletter. A special thanks also goes to Tony Conway for his memorabilia articles which have been informative and a delight to read. We also introduced our online voting system for the player of the season which proved to be very successful. So much so that we shall keep it going into the future as an alternative way of voting.

Our Treasurer released £500 from our account to provide you with a free Christmas raffle. Everyone’s membership number went into the draw and the 25 lucky winners either had their prizes delivered by Paul or was sent through the post. Your feedback made it all worthwhile.

The committee thought it was time to have a detailed look at our website. Our present site has become we felt a little stale. The outcome being we are in the process of changing from a static site to a more fluent site. This change will give us the flexibility of not only having a more versatile site but will give us the opportunity of making our own changes in the future.

We are all beginning to look forward to starting to lead our lives in some sort of normality.

It’s great to be watching live Championship football once again at the newly named MKM Stadium at the start of the 2021/22 season, and the Senior Tigers Club is back again holding our regular meetings on the first Thursday of the month.

Finally, can I on behalf of the committee thank you for your continued support in what has been a very difficult year.

David Jackson (Chairman) August 2021
