Roles need to be filled if group is to carry on beyond the end of this season….
The Senior Tigers have issued an S.O.S to find new committee members to help take the popular group beyond the end of the 2014/15 season.
First set-up in the year 2000, the Senior Tigers was formed with the promise of ‘creating an organisation for our senior supporters which will make them feel an integral part of the football club within the community’ and now has an active membership of fans aged 60 and above which is 160-strong.
In the 15 years since the Senior Tigers was launched, the group has met on a monthly basis during the football season and has welcomed a variety of guest speakers with present and past connections to the football club. The Senior Tigers has also made a significant contribution to the football club, with financial donations and support given to many sectors including our Academy.
As the years have passed, the long-serving Senior Tigers committee members have grown older and at the start of this season gave notice of their intention to step down in May. A new committee now needs to be formed to take the Senior Tigers forward into 2015/16 and beyond, but despite pleas nobody has yet come forward to volunteer for the roles of Chairman and Secretary.
The Senior Tigers are now appealing for anyone who may be interested in taking on the roles to get in touch as, if the roles are not filled, the group will cease to exist at the end of this season which would be a tremendous shame after 15 years of continual growth.
If you are interested and would like to know more about the roles, please contact the current Senior Tigers Chairman, Gordon Towse, on 01482 647387.
