On Thursday, 7th May, we held our end-of-season meal in the Kingston Suite at the MKM Stadium. As a trial this year, we had a choice of Street Food for our meal, similar to that served on the stadium concourse on matchdays. Rather than table service, we were invited, three tables at a time, to collect our food from food stations. Unfortunately, this meant quite a long time queuing up, and regrettably, some members found it too much. We will have to rethink our next meal.
As we were unable to have a guest speaker from the football club due to the imminent Championship playoff match, we had time to catch up with our fellow Senior Tigers.
Following the meal, we held a quiz arranged by our regular quizmaster, Tony Bilton, who is a member of the walking football group.
Before the raffle was held, a couple of announcements were made. Firstly, Barrie Kitching, a Senior Tiger, told us of his success competing in the London Marathon. At our March meeting, Barrie told us he would be competing in the marathon, and members donated money to the two causes he was raising money for. Barrie said that the football club had donated a club football shirt for him to run in, which he brought to show us. He also brought his medal, which he received for competing. Barrie has so far raised £1,911.00 and has still two more events to come. Well done, Barrie.
Following Barrie, Pat announced that the raffle would be the last one that Peter Wilson would be involved with, much to everyone’s sadness. Peter is stepping down on the advice of his doctor to concentrate on himself in future. Pat said it was sad that Peter was stepping down and thanked him for all his hard work.
Finally, the raffle, which raised £555.00, was drawn by Peter.
